For something like 35 of the past 48 hours, Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) has been live streaming to his fans and working on his new Ray Bradbury-inspired track "The Veldt". He and his manager had been discussing the need for a vocalist for it, mentioning the possibility of using the vocalist from his classic "I Remember", Haley. But yesterday a previously unheard of singer, Chris James, sent his edit of himself dubbing some vocals over a ripped recording of the song and sent it to Deadmau5 himself. He happened to click on it and in his own words he said "For whatever reason, I took a shot and checked it out...I was fucking nearly in tears. Not because I think he's the best singer in the world...but because HE FUCKING GOT IT. TOTALLY and COMPLETELY got it."
Now, Chris James has got an official collab with Deadmau5 himself at only 500-ish SoundCloud followers?!
Here's the preview to the track that was posted on Soundcloud; the vocals are pretty deep and thought provoking (if you know the story of 'the Veldt' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Veldt) but fuck it's going to be good! Also, below on the YouTube link is a video of the live streaming just after Deadmau5 had listened to the track so you can check out how the collab went down.
